Georgia FIRST Robotics helps put local students and businesses on the world stage of hyper competitive robotics competitions. Local FIRST Alumni get scouted by top universities and employers, attend prestigious institutions like MIT, GA Tech, Carnegie Mellon and work at places like Intel, HP, Google, NASA and Apple. This is local talent we exported.
Columbus’ own Robotics Alliance (FRC Team 4188) has made a name for itself and put Georgia on the radar of some of the most well funded, respected and sponsored teams on the planet. This is the first year we are moving to a district model to compete in the “big leagues” with teams from Ford, GM, GE and Google.
STE(A)M:uL8! is our attempt to bring that competition more visibility and create a new kind of event celebrating everything that is good about FIRST. It is also an opportunity to showcase the Electric River City vibe and #Make Columbus a world class competitor and DESTINATION in the realm of competitive robotics. We want our talent to have a reason to stay, start businesses and grow new industry here. We want to entice visitors and talent from elsewhere the notion that here (the Electric River City) is a phenomenal place to learn, live, work, play and grow.
Thursday we’ll be building the field and setting up the “pits” and the machine shop for robot inspections and competition play. A team of experts from GA FIRST will be on hand to help facilitate proper setup and smooth running of the multi-day tournament.
